Leupold finally brought back the LCO.
The original Leupold LCO dropped in 2015, got discontinued in 2021, and ever since then I’ve been quietly hoarding the few I have and moving them from rifle to rifle depending on the video.
Why?
Because nothing else scratched that itch.
The big square window.
The thin frame.
The way the housing disappears when you shoot with both eyes open.
The crisp 1 MOA dot.
The side brightness dial you can adjust without breaking your cheek weld.
The original LCO had soul.
So when Leupold sent me the new LCO Pro F2, I was nervous.
Bringing back a legend is dangerous.
You can modernize all the magic right out of it.
But the first thing I checked was the dot.
Still 1 MOA.
That’s when I knew we could talk.
The LCO Pro F2 keeps the soul of the original, but now it adds the things the old one never had:
Night vision settings.
Four reticle options.
A lockout mode.
Motion sensor tech.
Long battery life.
And a dark earth version that looks dangerously good.
But the real test wasn’t reading the spec sheet.
It was running this optic hard in Oregon.
Dust.
Branches.
Elevation changes.
Targets down in the valley.
And even stretching a red dot out to 1,000 yards.
That’s where the new reticles started to make sense.
The clean 1 MOA dot is still my favorite for a normal range day.
But when you’re reaching way past where a red dot has any business reaching, those extra reference points matter.
They let me spot, hold, adjust, and get back on target faster.
By the end of it, the biggest compliment I can give the LCO Pro F2 is this:
I stopped noticing it.
The window is huge.
The housing gets out of the way.
The dot becomes the star.
And the rifle just comes up with a clean red dot sitting where I need it.
The old LCO used to be one of my favorite optics.
Now it’s this one.
Same soul.
New shoes.
