The safety journey was led by Dr. Jennifer McPartland, a nationally recognized safety scientist who leads the Beautycounter Mission team (Dr. McPartland is formerly of the Environmental Defense Fund, or EDF, where she sat on various scientific and market advisory groups). Under Dr. McPartland’s leadership, a team of scientists screened each ingredient for safety well beyond what is typical for other clean brands which often rely entirely on databases like EWG’s Skin Deep® without a comprehensive approach to screening. Our team reviews potential health and environmental impacts alongside far-spanning research to bring a level of diligence and confidence to the safety of ingredients that remains unmatched in the industry.
