Interpreter Assist: live captions and translation for phone interpreters on Windows and Mac

Its All Good Games Stream Yesterday

Description

Interpreting means holding entire sentences in your head until it's your turn to speak, call after call. Interpreter Assist keeps each sentence on screen with its translation, so your memory doesn't have to carry all of it: much less mental exhaustion over a long shift.

This is a mock interpreted clinic call, captioned live by Interpreter Assist on a Windows PC.

What you see: the agent's English and the patient's Spanish appear as text, with a translation next to each sentence. Numbers (dates, doses, phone numbers) are highlighted. The interpreter's own voice goes out through their microphone, so it isn't captioned.

- Your calls never leave your computer: speech recognition and translation run on it, and no audio or text is uploaded or saved.
- Works with any call app or website that plays through your speakers or headset.
- Languages paired with English: Spanish (built in), Russian, Ukrainian, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), French, Italian, German, Turkish, Arabic, Hebrew, Chinese (Mandarin) and Vietnamese.
- With an NVIDIA graphics card (shown in this video), words appear while the person is still talking and each finished sentence follows about a second after they stop. On other Windows PCs, each sentence appears about 2 seconds after they stop.

Everything in this call is invented (555-01xx phone numbers are reserved for fiction). One person read all three roles; the agent's and the patient's voices were altered so the roles sound different. The captions are the app's real, unedited output.
