If everything comes from the Creator, what is my personal responsibility? Am I actually choosing anything?
We may know that everything comes from the Creator. That’s an idea, but it’s not an experience.
Our responsibility is to hold that as a goal and to actively get involved in attaining that as a real taste and as a real perception in our lives. That means that every place where we encounter resistance, doubt, a block, or a lack of desire to do something that is not in my self-interest — so that I can be like the force that’s guiding reality — at each moment where I encounter those resistances, there is my action.
It is something opposite to my created nature. What would that action be? What would bestowal be in this situation? How would I make my care for another — let’s say someone for whom I feel resistance — more important than the thing that I think I want out of it?
In other words, I am revealing the difference in every action that seems to stop me. I am looking for what the difference is here between my inner nature and the nature of reality that wants to be revealed to me. It is constant work.
Even though the path is completely laid out, we have to walk that path. Receiving all of that is not the goal of creation. The goal of creation is for us to learn to give as well, to become part of this governance.
We do that by actively being involved, not just thinking about something as an idea, but making it a reality within our own inner lives.
