Last year, my Dad turned 70. As he has always taken lots of joy to visit me in different parts of the world for little explorations, I decided to surprise him with a Birthday-Hike on the famous Malerweg (“Painters’ Trek”) lasting 5 days and 135km in the beautiful Elbe Sandstone Mountains near Czech Republic.
Despite the fact of not being used to so much physical exercise (yet alone with a 13kg backpack attached…), he handled all those climbs and challenges masterfully. I was well impressed!
As this year a return to Germany was difficult and another birthday-hike therefore not an option, I took some time to put together video snippets of this amazing hiking experience and to surprise him with this collection of memories.
And since he told me that he was happy if I shared it with the world, I put it on here, to inspire and show that age is just a number.
