Every year in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, thousands of sheep pass through the village streets for the Transhumance Festival, a traditional event that marks the seasonal movement of flocks toward mountain pastures.
In this short 5-minute vlog, I’m taking you with me to experience this unique Provence festival, from the crowds in town to the sound of bells, hooves, and sheep filling the streets. I didn’t have a full day of footage, so think of this as a quick travel story and introduction to one of the most unusual local traditions I’ve seen in France so far!
If you’re planning a trip to Provence in spring season, this is one of those events worth timing your visit for, especially if you love local culture, countryside traditions, and festivals that feel completely different from the usual tourist itinerary!
