I made the exact same Halloween Monster cake twice.
The first time, I gave myself 3 DAYS to sculpt, carve, detail and paint this jack-o'-lantern monster.
Then I started over and tried to recreate the same cake in roughly 30 MINUTES.
And I genuinely wasn't expecting the second cake to turn out as well as it did.
The interesting part wasn't just seeing which cake looked better. Making them back-to-back showed me exactly what those extra three days actually gave me — and even exposed something I would change about the cake I spent three days making.
Because the 30-minute cake isn't really a completely different process.
It's the 3-day process that I never get to finish.
