After getting some concerned messages and comments, I just want to be clear: IM OK. :) Just made this video to check in with you guys and give you some updates since I’ve been quiet on social media this last week.
For those of you who don’t want to listen to me ramble for 8 minutes, here is an outline:
- I’m “safe and sound,” self quarantining in Chicago. My residency in Puerto Vallarta ended early last Wednesday because of the COVID-19 outbreak.
- If you purchased a ticket to one of my shows after last Wednesday, you can get your refund through Act2Pv.com. However, I encourage you to consider donating your ticket back to the theatre. @Act2 and all its employees are being hit hard by this sudden shut down and Danny, the owner, is trying to still take care of his employees even though there is no money coming in. I donated what I could back to the theatre as well.
- Stay safe! I know it’s a big inconvenience and much more than that for many across the world, but we have to take this serious NOW to mitigate damage. The lives of the most vulnerable depend on our cooperation. Past generations have been called to fight and die in literal wars. We are being asked to stay home whenever possible. We can do this!
- Help in the ways you can: if you are one of the lucky ones in a position to help financially, your cash can go a long way. But it’s not the only way you can help. For instance, hospitals need blood right now! If you are healthy and capable, consider donating blood. This New York Times piece lays out some simple ways everyone can come tribute to fight the Corona Virus, and those that will be effected worst by it. - give me your ideas: since I’m-person concerts are out of the question for now, what kind of content would you like to see from me? Online concert? Live Q&As?? Give me your thoughts!

- As someone who makes the vast majority of my living from live performances, I would like to call out the fact that we are going to be among the worst hit by this pandemic. Find your favorite artists, entertainers, drag queens, comedians, etc, on social media and follow them! Share their content. Engage with them on the platforms they occupy. If you can afford to, buy their albums, T-shirts, etc. Many of us are finding ways to do live performances online on platforms with the ability to tip (I’m looking into this myself). As I’ve heard the legendary mamma Tits, in all her infinite wisdom, say many-a-time: “tip a hoe!”

With the virus outbreak, most of those live events, concerts, prides I count on for that income are being canceled or postponed, even up through summer.
