I'm still Alive ... but the Evolve is dead.
As of April 2019: There are two Drones out there that I do NOT endorse or recommend.
#1: #Dreamqii Plexidrone. (Millions in profits, but still no Drone...)
This crowd funded 4 year old #Plexidrone from Canadian startup #Dreamqii may in fact be the biggest "Bernie Madoff" since Bernie Madoff! Not a single pre-order final production unit has been delivered to its hundreds of paid customers. Still nothing but excuses and an endless list of false promises and even down right trickery!

X-Dynamics EVOLVE drone!
I took a (really stupid) risk to my reputation and went out on a very long limb, trusting that X-Dynamics engineers would address the major concerns about "glitches", functionality and poor performance before the drone began shipping. Just the Major issues... like Range... Flight time... Its BASIC Smart Modes. I passed these concerns along to them after testing the #Evolve they shipped to me. (with no expectations)
According to my sources, they still haven't fully addressed these issues. Unless I'm out of the loop (April), X-Dynamics decided instead that I should just return my unit. While this is the FIRST and only drone I've EVER been asked to return without consideration, (contrary to original understanding), especially after receiving MORE than positive reviews (still up), I decided to just give it back and "come clean" on this one. But I didn't just Walk Away! Instead, I drove down to LA (again) and met up (again) with Mr "ExecDynamic" in person... I thought surely, he would make good. Maybe he was gonna trade me out for his new and improved Evolve 2.0 he'd promised.
So, what the hell! Id already invested over 80 hours into reviewing, figuring out, flying, filming, extensive editing, endorsing, and then TRUSTING that the #Evolve would eventually live up to the HYPE I had put out there for them.
Off I went, 8 hours, two tanks o'gas down to LA.. We met... I handed it back... and then without any "new direction", or explanation or a $5 McDonalds gift card... or even an uncomfortable HANDSHAKE.... just "Thanks" and drove away. BUT! I'm ok with that,
Since NOW, I can just relax, come clean and quit worrying about my previous endorsement that I felt very guilty about... and still do.
"So, here's the truth... nuthin' but the truth.... so help me JEEEZUSSSS!
XDYNAMICS EVOLVE - After Testing;
- Maximum Range on this $2300 #EVOLVE quadcopter from XDynamics.com was, UNDER A MILE (average conditions) before I lost video, then radio, then it would RTH.
- The MAX flight time I was able to "eeek out" was 16 minutes (pushing it to it's "emergency landing" limits).
- Functionality (Smart Modes) are "Old School Basic" functions at best.
Aside from Lidar that I couldn't get to work, it was just lots of Dazzle with Dull performance.
- The Evolve quadcopter boasts a 3/4" CMOS image sensor, on its prosumer 4K camera that SHOULD include a 1" sensor AND 4K @60FPS. (when you consider Cost to Value).
In short, I sincerely apologize to EVERYONE who has put their trust in me for always providing 100% Honest, No BS, reviews and Industry related Drone information. My previous endorsement of this over priced "non-competitor" in the drone industry was hasty, speculative, unprofessional and disappointing at best! - I am truly sorry.
I'll continue to update everyone if/when XDynamics "Makes it Right" and comes thru on their past "Assurances."
