Description
The St. Lawrence River experienced historic low water levels in the late summer and fall of 2025, the lowest in over a decade, due to a dry summer. This drought-induced low water has caused navigational hazards, stranded boats, and raised concerns about fish habitat and recreational activities. In August 2025, water levels in Montreal and the St. Lawrence River system were the lowest seen in an August since 2012.
