I actually had something longer for them, but I wasn't happy with how the edit was going, so I decided to change it up, and the edit ended up getting shorter (and unfortunately a lot of scenes didn't make it to the final result). I decided to focus more on the fact that in the end they loved each other without regrets, both willing to go through everything all over again for each other.
Also, for me, the special episode was the real ending; it made much more sense with their characters journey (and is also the novel's ending). I don't know why they didn't go for that instead of that sad one (that didn't make sense to me)!
