About an hour outside Chicago, Old Joliet Prison once held some of America's most notorious criminals, including John Wayne Gacy and Baby Face Nelson.
Today, the imposing, castle-like prison is known for more than its criminal history. Visitors have reported shadowy figures moving through abandoned cellblocks and unexplained activity in its narrow corridors.
The prison is now open for tours through the Joliet Area Historical Museum, including history tours, self-guided visits and nighttime flashlight experiences.
