❗️I want to clarify that what's depicted is not the Hanahaki disease trope. Hanahaki is tied to unrequited love, but that’s not what’s happening here. Please don't read it as anything romantic, especially between siblings! (I shouldn't even say it, but here we are 💀)
Reyin is essentially suffocating under the weight of the destructive path he's going down. The "coughing petals" is just a visual way to show the emotional suffocation becoming physical.
So while it might resemble that trope on the surface, the meaning here is completely different - it's about grief, guilt, and anger, and the way those feelings can consume you from the inside out.
