Description
After 20 years, this is the end of the road for one of the greatest six-speed manual transmissions ever made: the Tremec TR-6060.
The TR-6060 first launched in 2006 in the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 and found its way into pretty much every great American sports car since then: the Dodge Viper, the Chevy Camaro, the Corvette, the Pontiac G8, the Cadillac CTS-V, ATS-V, CT4-V Blackwing, CT5-V Blackwing, and more. Its durability, positive engagement, and light feel helped define how those cars drove compared to the rest of the world.
A 20-year run alone is impressive, but when you consider how much more powerful cars have become since 2006, it's a testament to how amazingly overbuilt the TR-6060 was from the beginning. But times are changing. The two Cadillac Blackwing models are the last cars you can get with a TR-6060, and when they end production this year, it's curtains for a legend.
