Back in the beginning of January, I was worshipping with a group of friends in the living room when I saw one of the most beautiful visions. It wasn't "out-of-body," but the image of this place burned in my mind.
I saw a mansion-sized glass greenhouse. From the outside, it looked huge, ornate, intimidating, but inviting. On the inside was this beautiful botanical garden with all types of plants and trees lit by the overwhelming warm glow of the gold stained glass wall on the far side. I felt safe in this place.
I asked God, "What is this? Does this have any significance?" (My mind can tend to wander, and I wasn't sure if this was just a creative moment)
He asks me, "What do I expect these plants to do?"
I thought this was an odd question. My initial thought was, "Nothing." But He corrected me.
"The things they were designed to do were to consume sunlight and drink water. By only doing those 2 things, you will expect growth."
He proceeded to remind me of the basic functions of a greenhouse: The atmosphere is intentionally set for the optimal growth of the life residing in it.
At that point, I knew what this vision meant. I had felt a call for a long time to slow down and rest in Him, and what He was telling me was this:
"All I want from you is to set an atmosphere for yourself to grow in Me. To drink of the deep waters of My Spirit, and to consume the light of My Word- the bread of life."
We were made from the dust of the earth. What is the purpose of soil? To carry a seed. And in us, we hold the seed of God's very image. When you plant a seed, you expect fruit.
How cool of Him to show me this through such a beautiful visual! It took me 2 months and dozens of hours to complete, but during that whole time I was continually reminded of His sweet words to me. "Just rest in Me. Abide in me, and not only will you grow, but you will produce fruit."
How cool is my God?? Leaning on Him and trusting in Him has been my greatest privilege, and I will continue to do so forever.
