Goal! Two (NES) Playthrough

Description

A playthrough of Jaleco's 1992 soccer game for the NES, Goal! Two.

In this video, I played through the Super Cup as the United States.

Goal! Two (known in Japan as Goal!!, in France as Eric Cantona's Football Challenge: Goal! 2, and in the rest of Europe as Goal! 2) is an adaptation of the 1992 Super Nintendo game Goal!, which was the direct sequel to Jaleco's 1988 NES game https://youtu.be/2SBdRA0tgew. Goal! Two was also one of just two Jaleco NES sports title to not be part of the _Moero!!_ series.

Like the first game, Goal! Two is played from an isometric perspective, and the primary single-player mode is a tournament-style cup. It lacks Goal!!'s shoot-out mode, but it includes more teams, and it allows players to choose formations and pick their lineups. It features a revised perspective with two levels of zoom (now closely resembling the style of https://youtu.be/Z9fnTllcywY), and it introduces options for half length, control orientation, and other various game elements.

As similar as the two games are, and despite shipping on a smaller cartridge, Goal! Two dramatically improves upon every aspect of Goal!! The action is more readable thanks to the larger characters and improved animation, the zoomed-out view allows you to see where your teammates are, the controls are more fluid (even if passing is still generally useless), there are more cutscenes, and the music is pretty good. It's a much easier game - the AI poses no threat whatsoever - but unlike Goal!!, its sequel is fun.

And it's pretty funny seeing Rival Turf! being advertised in an NES game.
