Description
Glenn Gould never did things the usual way. So this Friday, September 25, neither will we. 🎹
We’re warming up for Glenn Gould Day with @valgreenpiano.
If you haven’t met this brilliant pianist and her piano impersonations yet, you’re in for a treat. She is an incredibly talented musician in her own right, and impersonates famous pianists with so much love and adoration. Check her out as Glenn Gould playing Rosalía, with all the same hums, hunch and humour. Amazing!
We love her videos and truly believe Gould would love them too. He was not only an out-of-the-box thinker, but he was also a mimic and a prankster himself, writing and performing comic alter-egos for CBC, so playful impersonation is very (very!) much in his spirit!
Want to join the Glenn Gould Day celebration? You don’t need to be a concert pianist. Gould was about curiosity and originality, and there are so many ways to show yours.
Here are some ideas:
- a Gould-inspired photo (his bench, his CDs, his signature look)- your art, poetry, music or project in progress- how you live outside the box: an unconventional ritual, an odd-but-brilliant habit, anything uniquely you- what you’re reading or learning about Gould- a little Bach (or an attempt!) in his honour
Tag @glenngouldfndn or use #GlennGouldDay, and we’ll share it.
