A landslide, also known as a landslip, is a form of mass wasting that includes a wide range of ground movements, such as rockfalls, deep failure of slopes, and shallow debris flows. Landslides can occur underwater, called a submarine landslide, coastal and onshore environments. Although the action of gravity is the primary driving force for a landslide to occur, there are other contributing factors affecting the original slope stability. Typically, pre-conditional factors build up specific sub-surface conditions that make the slope area prone to failure, whereas the actual landslide often requires a trigger before being released. Landslides should not be confused with mudflows, a form of mass wasting involving very to extremely rapid flow of debris that has become partially or fully liquefied by the addition of significant amounts of water to the source material.
Nayong County (纳雍县) is a county of Guizhou, China. It is under the administration of Bijie city. Guizhou is a province of the People's Republic of China located in the southwestern part of the country. Its capital city is Guiyang. Guizhou is a relatively poor and economically undeveloped province, but rich in natural, cultural and environmental resources. Demographically it is one of China's most diverse provinces. Minority groups such as the Miao and Yao account for more than 37% of the population.

据了解，毕节消防支队全勤指挥部已出动3车10人，特勤中队出动2车11人，织金中队出动1车7人，黔西中队出动1车9人，南环东路中队出动1车7人，开行路中队出动1车7人，纳雍中队出动2车14人，共计11车65人，携带搜救犬1条，生命探测仪5套，破拆工具组6套及无线4G、卫星便携站等通讯设备赶赴现场处置。
省政府新闻办消息，8月28日上午10时40分许，贵州省毕节市纳雍县张家湾镇发生一起山体滑坡。初步核实，目前已造成2人死亡，4人受伤，25人失联。省委省政府主要领导率相关部门已赶赴现场开展抢险救援，启动贵州省地质灾害二级应急响应，各项应急处置工作正在有序进行。
纳雍县位于贵州省西北部、毕节市南部，与大方县隔河相望，地理坐标为东经104°55′40″－105°38′04″，北纬26°30′16″－27°05′54″，因县南有一纳雍河，即以纳雍为县名（亦取纳民雍熙之意）。境内有吊水岩风景名胜区、雍熙风景区、大海坝景区、总溪河风景名胜区等景点。工业项目有240万KW电厂，位于纳雍阳场镇，还有毕节煤制油二期项目，离六盘水钟山区30公里。
