Description
Fused Connection Units with no switch, and those with a double pole switch. Also a version for fire alarms with the fuse concealed and a key used to operate the switch. Sometimes incorrectly called 'fused spurs' although the spur would be a cable from a ring final circuit, and not the accessory connected to it. Some switched types have a neon or LED indicator.
Fuses used in these are BS1362, the same as used in UK BS1363 plugs. Maximum of 13 amps, smaller 3 or 5 amp fuses are used for items such as central heating boilers or alarm systems.
Using these for high load items that will be on for extended periods is not recommended, these are not appropriate for connecting 3kW immersion water heaters or night storage heaters.
