Simon Helberg appeared in four episodes as Seth Tobin, a nerdy engineer and friend/rival of Michael who shared many similarities with one of Helberg's later characters, Howard Wolowitz, in The Big Bang Theory.
S01E03 - Joey and the Party
Michael Tribbiani panics when his 'friendly' academical rival Seth announces to bring an actual date to a party, Molly, leaving Michael the last of the virginal Mohicans, so he desperately needs a foxy (fake) date. He jumps at his next-door neighbor Alex's offer; she does a great job, and they soon work out Molly is even more fake, but why?
