Miriam Adefris: Harp
Isaac Robertson: sax and keys
Dillon Harrison: drums/percussion
The three musicians met during their music studies at Goldsmiths in London, where they immersed themselves in the university’s experimental music scene. After developing as band members alongside artists such as flautist Shabaka Hutchings, producer Floating Points, and vocalist Ganavya, Flur was formed.
Both live and on their album Plunge (2025), you can hear a blend of contemporary classical music, free jazz, and ambient, with a touch of spiritual jazz.
The harp is experiencing a resurgence in jazz. Instrumentalists such as Nala Sinephro, Alina Bzhezhinska, and Miriam Adefris reference the decades-long legacy of harp pioneers like Alice Coltrane and Dorothy Ashby in their playing.
In the ballroom of the gentlemen’s society De Vereeniging, located on Kazernestraat in The Hague, Coltrane’s influence is also clearly audible in the playing of harpist Miriam Adefris.
