A proper FLIGHT TEST of the Pipistrel Taurus Electro — the side-by-side electric self-launch glider that fellow pilot and YouTuber @IgorVolkov swears by. We met up so I could take a close look on the ground, go through the technical details, and of course fly it myself.
The real highlight is Igor's solar charging trailer: it makes recharging at the airfield completely self-sufficient, going from 30% to 80% in around an hour, fully off-grid. Add the side-by-side seating — a bit like a smaller Stemme S10/S12 — and you've got a very different kind of glider from what I usually fly.
