A fatwa has been issued against Sara Ali Khan, the daughter of Amrita Singh and Saif Ali Khan. This follows her recent visit to the Kedarnath temple—a place she has been visiting consistently for the past four years. Sara Ali Khan has always been open about her faith in this temple; however, this time, it has drawn the ire of Maulana Mufti Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi, an Islamic cleric from Uttar Pradesh, who has issued a fatwa against the actress.

Glimpses of Sara Ali Khan have emerged, showing her standing in a queue outside the temple, waiting for a 'darshan' (worship/viewing of the deity) amidst the biting cold. Sara frequently visits Kedarnath, and this year, she arrived there on October 25th.

Stating that Sara Ali Khan is a 'sinner' in the eyes of Sharia, the cleric has issued a fatwa, calling upon her to seek repentance ('tauba'). He asserted that, according to Sharia, Sara Ali Khan has committed a sin and must repent. He further stated that participating in the rituals of another religion is considered wrong and 'haram' (forbidden) under Sharia law. He has urged her to seek forgiveness from Allah and to repent for her actions, as a sinner would.

Is Sara’s act of worship at Kedarnath permissible under Sharia?
In the video, the cleric remarks, "Many young people have asked me whether Sara’s act of worship at Kedarnath is permissible under Sharia. I want to clarify that such actions are not permissible."

The Maulana further stated that Sara should apologize for her actions.
In the video, he adds, "Sara Ali Khan is a well-known Indian actress. She visited the Kedarnath temple, performed rituals, offered prayers, and even stood in a queue for half an hour." "All these actions are considered impermissible—haram—in the light of Sharia. From the perspective of Sharia, these acts make one an offender, a sinner; such individuals must seek repentance (tawba)." Regarding Sara, the Maulana stated that she ought to seek forgiveness for her actions; failing to do so, she remains a sinner in the eyes of the Divine.

*Affidavit Mandatory for Non-Hindu Visitors*
It is worth noting that the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC), which oversees the management of these temples, recently made it mandatory for non-Hindu visitors wishing to offer prayers at the shrines to submit an affidavit. In a conversation with News18, Sohan Singh Ranghar, the Chief Executive Officer of the BKTC, confirmed that Sara’s team had submitted the required affidavit prior to her visit.

*Sara’s Special Connection to Kedarnath*
It should also be mentioned that Sara shares a particularly special connection with Kedarnath. Her debut film was titled Kedarnath, in which she starred alongside Sushant Singh Rajput. Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, the film was shot in Uttarakhand—specifically at Kedarnath Dham and in the areas between Gaurikund and Kedarnath. In her social media posts, Sara has frequently expressed her deep reverence for this significant place.
