Description
Construction Update on Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, at Universal Orlando. Major progress is now visible in the ride’s twisting CityWalk section. The Intamin coaster will use new controlled-spinning “drift” vehicles and feature a large out-and-back layout, with many of its turns, launches, and the 170-foot spike located on the CityWalk side of the property! #universalorlando #themepark #universalstudios #fastandfurious #rollercoaster
Recent additions include supports for the roller coaster’s second and third launches, which appear heavily reinforced due to the intense elevation changes and forces riders will experience through this section. Work is also underway on the massive 170-foot spike, which will twist as it rises and face toward the Universal globe, giving riders a dramatic view while improving the attraction’s visibility from the park entrance.
Based on the layout and coaster operations, a mid-course brake run will likely be located before this launch-and-spike sequence to help maintain capacity and allow multiple trains to operate efficiently. We also look at what more could be coming in the twister section of the ride.
