Her name is Maya Devi Prajapati. She a entrepreneur from Pottery Square, Bhaktapur. Her husband is the modeller who makes various kinds of pottery. She helps in setting the pottery and giving them a final finish with sometimes help from her daughters. It's not just her family business, it's also a family tradition that's been passed to her from many generations.
Use of pottery is not only a part of traditional life style, but also used by michelin star chefs in world's best restaurants.
Will her pottery be used in top restaurants in Nepal at least? Time will tell.
For now, if you want to help her buying her pottries, you can visit the Pottery Square in Bhaktapur, Nepal and ask for Maya Devi Prajapati in the neighbourhood. She says, "I am the ONLY Maya Devi in the neighbourhood. You'll find me".
