In this video, we will be exploring an abandoned mine from the early 1900's. This abandoned silver mine was originally built in 1891 and processed ore for the surrounding towns at the time. The tramway for the ore buckets seen in the video was built in 1923 to help bring ore in from the surrounding mines. This tramway was primarily powered by gravity as the weight of the ore in the buckets carried the mine buckets down the tramway. In addition to being powered by gravity, the tramway was also powered by a five horse power motor. At the time, it cost 6 cents per ton to transport the ore to this mill. Over the years, the mill saw less use till it eventually closed during the 1980's.
