Description
Legendary Swedish GM Ulf Andersson was a connoisseur of queenless middlegames, and one of his hobbyhorses was the line 1.Nf3 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 d5 4.cxd5 Nxd5 5.e4 Nxc3 6.dxc3, inviting Black to swap queens with 6...Qxd1+ 7.Kxd1. I've learned a great deal from Anderson's games and used this line to good effect over the years. In this game my opponents plays the natural but inaccurate 7...Bg7?! (the surprising 7...f6! is best), and I seemingly get everything White could want in this line. This doesn't prevent a sheer moment of terror in the middlegame, though.
