It's one of the first words you learn in English, but so many people still don't know when to use which pronunciation. There's actually a rule that depends on the very next word.

👉 "Thuh" /ðə/ – Use this before words starting with a consonant (like "the cat").
👉 "Thee" /ðiː/ – Use this before words starting with a vowel (like "the elephant").

But also… did you know you can say "thee" before a consonant if you want to add EMPHASIS? Example: "This is THE most important thing."
