Not sure of the odds on this one, but it absolutely blew my mind! 🤯
2020 Hyundai Elantra 2.0 (Nu Engine) came in for a no-start. Code P0017 Cam/Crank Correlation. During cranking, the intake cam spins, but the exhaust cam stays DEAD STILL for 3 revolutions before the phaser finally grabs.
The crazy part? After buttoning it back up... it actually fired up. It’s a ticking time bomb, but I’ve never seen a VVT phaser failure like this catch on camera.
