Don't Judge Families of Missing Persons Unless You've Been There

I know a little what the family of Savannah Guthrie is going through. It's the 15th anniversary of the disappearance of my 18-year-old still missing cousin, Marizela Perez. Families of the missing face intense public scrutiny. It's an excruciating burden, accepted because of familial duty and love, in order to raise awareness through media and social platforms. Cultural differences can add to the challenge, but hope and faith, like a Tagalog phrase for 'all will be well,' persist. #findmarizela #MissingPersons
