Planning to buy a built-in hob for your modular kitchen? Don’t make this common mistake — buying the hob first and deciding the countertop cut-out later.
Before installation, check these 6 important points:
✅ Hob Size & Cut-Out
60cm, 70cm, 75cm or 90cm — don’t check only the overall width. Always confirm the manufacturer’s exact cut-out dimensions before cutting granite or quartz.
✅ Burner Count
For most families, 3 or 4 burners are enough. Choose a 5-burner hob only if you regularly use 4–5 vessels at the same time.
✅ Burner Spacing
A hob may have 4 burners, but if large vessels cannot fit comfortably together, the extra burner is not very useful.
✅ Burner Type & Pan Supports
For Indian cooking, different burner outputs are useful. If you regularly use heavy kadai or pressure cookers, cast-iron pan supports can be worth paying extra for.
✅ FFD Safety Feature
A Flame Failure Device can automatically stop the gas supply if the flame goes off due to milk overflow or wind. This is a feature I would seriously consider for a built-in setup.
✅ Ignition & Gas Compatibility
Auto ignition is convenient, but it may require battery or electrical maintenance. Also confirm whether the hob supports LPG or PNG before buying. Don’t assume every model is directly compatible with PNG.
