SUN GOD FRAUD SQUAD is an album of new music by a selection of the UK’s most forward-thinking musical and visual artists, drawing inspiration from a mysterious manuscript dating from the 5th Century. Musicians and artists including Django Django, Nik Colk Void, Lucy Armstrong, Haroon Mirza and others were invited to respond to a set of six illustrated manuscripts, discovered in 1937 but believed to originate from 5th-6th century Egypt. On these mysterious parchments, dubbed ‘The Music of the Spheres’, are painted many circles of different sizes and colours, alongside fragments of enigmatic text. It has long been theorised that these comprise a very early example of music written in a notated form, although a definitive translation remains elusive.
