BONUS STORY - When I was 19, I worked for a multi opp. The office manager was getting married to someone with money. They had a band, but the owner told him he could use some spare equipment & hire one of us DJs to do band breaks. He chose me, out of 40 other DJs. At the time, I may have weighed 125 LBS & had a blonde curly Sammy Hagar looking mane to my shoulders. I was set up in the opposite corner of one of the biggest wedding bands in the city. Two beat up old wooden stage monitors on the floor, a box of 45's, radio Shack turntables & a 6 foot banquet table with no lights. There were a few hundred people there & I saw my first video production crew. The band went on first. The front man took great pleasure in ripping me apart between each song & was getting some pretty big laughs from the crowd: My look, my set up, you name it. They had a good dance floor of maybe 75 people. Then, I went on. I had a look at their set list before they started & saw SO many missed opportunities with both new & old music. I got on the mic, did the whole "give it up for (band name)", then said "OK, are you ready?" & started dropping bangers. I had a couple hundred people completely pack the dance floor right away & did so during every break. The band didn't know what hit them. They were done at 11:30. The party was supposed to go to 12, but I went to 2 AM. The videographers were from a high end video / Mobile DJ company & offered me double my salary to go work for them. I took them up on it a few months later. That was my first big lesson of "Under Promise / Over Deliver"
