DA Fani Willis Testifies Before Senate CommitteeFulton County District Attorney Fani Willis testified before a Republican-led Georgia State Senate committee as lawmakers examined her handling of the 2020 election interference case involving former President Donald Trump.
Although the Trump prosecution has since been dropped and Willis was disqualified from overseeing the case, the committee continues its investigation into her conduct. Central to the hearing are questions regarding a subpoena issued to Willis, which her legal team argues is unconstitutional and beyond the committee’s authority.
Willis appeared voluntarily, while her attorney challenged claims that the legislature has the power to compel her testimony. The hearing grew tense as lawmakers and defense counsel clashed over issues of political oversight, prosecutorial independence, and separation of powers.
