Description

TheSuntravel youtube channel shot this nice demonstration of Centroid's new standard feature of CNC12 verison 5.20+, Spindle Speed Variation.

Spindle speed variation (SSV) is a Centroid CNC controller feature that continuously speeds up and slows down the spindle while cutting. This helps to keep the cut out of the chatter zone, which can improve the surface finish and extend the life of the tool.

Chatter can be a problem for lathe operators, especially when working with long, slender shafts, thin walls, or extended boring bars. It can produce a poor surface finish and limit the life of the tool. SSV solves this issue. SSV works by fluctuating the spindle speed to within the operator's specifications using a sinusoidal curve.

SSV setup is simple with the Centroid CNC setup Wizard with fill in the blank menu for both SSV and FRV! setups.
