Chevy gave the 2027 Corvette Stingray a BIGGER V8, MORE horsepower, and a completely new engine. So how did the new Corvette end up slower in one very important test?
The 2027 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray arrives with a massive 6.7-liter LS6 V8 producing 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque. On paper, it's a serious upgrade over the original 2020 C8 Corvette and its 6.2-liter LT2.
But when Car and Driver compared the new Corvette Stingray Z51 against the original 2020 model, the results revealed some surprising problems.
Despite having 40 more horsepower, the new Corvette is only one-tenth of a second quicker to 60 mph. It's also heavier, less fuel-efficient, and its Z51 version actually has a slightly lower top speed than the original.
