I wrote this song during my time at Jama Coaque Ecological Reserve in northwest Ecuador, in what is known as the “world’s most endangered rainforest.” Only around 2% of this cloud forest ecosystem is left.
The good news is that farmers are using regenerative cacao farming (planting a mixture of native forest trees with native cacao trees) to bring back the forest— and make some of the world’s best chocolate!
