The Texas Performing Arts Fabrication Studios at The
University of Texas at Austin is a community of practice
where curriculum, coursework, and student employment
converge. Recurrent institutional funding, ticket sales,
and revenue-generating activates provide resources that
support an extended on-campus internship experience where
student employees make scenic elements and properties for
theater, opera, film, and other public events. This academic
production space operates at a professional scale and pace.
Learning activities are driven by the hard deadlines of
project deliverables and opening nights. This creates an
environment where students can learn and practice highly
sought-after transferable skills.
