( transcript ) Hey guys so I am going to be talking about when I weighed 650 pounds and was on the brink of being bed ridden.

About three years ago I weighed 650 pounds and could hardly make it the ten steps to my bathroom. I had no support or caretaker at the time so things were very difficult.

I had chairs set around the house, some rooms had two, including outdoors, and I had no choice but to walk the few steps going chair to chair to complete housework.

I could only stand for about 10 seconds at a time at this point so life was very difficult. To take out trash I would have to carry a 600lb weight rated folding chair along with me down the driveway.

I could only handle about 10 steps before I had to sit for about 10 minutes to catch my breath.

Life was very difficult without a caretaker, but I somehow managed. I guess I am just that stubborn.

The turning point was when I had a mental health crisis and I needed transport to a hospital and the hydraulics on the gurney could not life me into the ambulance. It was that night that caused me to take weight loss seriously. It terrified me to think that if it was a physical emergency that I would likely die because they could not transport me.

Fast forward to the stubborn determination

I would exercise my legs in bed a few times a day. Practice standing as long as I could, trying to stay up longer each time. I forced myself to walk further each time as well. It hurt and it was NOT easy, but I was determined. Even one step further was a win at that point.

I altered my diet going from eating a pound or more of pasta a day to eating just the pound for a while and then slowly phasing out the pasta spreading it to every other day and so forth. I still admittedly have a pound at a time, but now only once a week, but mostly every other week.

I am just telling this to you because if you are like I was, at the brink of bed ridden, you can definitely turn it around before it is too late.

And if you are already bed ridden... exercising your legs in ANY way you can think of, for as long as your stamina will allow, can build you back slowly.

If you can't sit up, practice that first along with leg movements to your ability. You will need to push yourself further each time and take each session at face value. You will hurt, and yes YOU got yourself to this point, but think of it as an arcade game challenge where you try to beat your personal best every time you play.

I can't stress enough that it won't be easy, but I CAN promise that it will be worth it.

And this is my story on how I brought myself back from the brink of bed ridden.

I will say lastly that I sincerely hope that if you are in the position I was in that your determination will carry you back from the brink. Thank you for listening to my story.

And... remember. It won't be easy, but it WILL be worth it.
