Description
[Low Intermediate] How to fold an origami brachiosaurus -- with a fully articulated neck and head -- that works like a finger puppet when folded from a 6 or 7 inch square of paper, so you can incorporate it into a puppet show for your friends and family.
This tutorial guides you through the process of creating a realistic paper dinosaur using just pure origami - no cutting. Following step-by-step will result in a dinosaur that moves its neck both up and down and side to side and moves it's head forward and backward.
This articulated origami action model is more playful and unusual than the standard static origami dinosaur designs you see in origami books and on YouTube. The special folding sequence creates specific tension points and locking mechanisms necessary for the action mechanism to work.
Comment below if you found this model easy or difficult to fold and let me know which other models you would like to see me design and teach in future origami tutorials.
The pictures of different dinosaurs in this video were sourced from this Dinosaurs Size Comparison video: https://youtu.be/jLhToi3XdZ0 and I also borrowed a clip from the most famous dinosaur movie series!
