On his latest EP - the debut release from US Records, no less - the more prolific Lisbon-based Russian producer Bogdan Ra has decided to pay tribute to the White Isle of Ibiza. On opener 'Baledistance', that means wrapping the dreamiest of deep house chords and ear-catching acid lines around a chunky, tech-tinged house groove. Ra doffs a cap to the tribal-leaning "Iberican sound" of Chus and Cebellos and Rui Da Silva on the main room-ready pump-and-funk of 'House Wand', while 'Til The Morning' sees him doff a cap to the breakbeat-driven era of kaleidoscopic Italian house. Finally, 'I Need You' is a moody, acid-flecked roller that blends the sonics of trance with glossy deep house colour.
