I recently upgraded my Mitsubishi Outlander (PHEV & petrol) with a K&N high-flow air filter, and here’s my honest take after using it for a while.
First thing I noticed was the improved throttle response. The car feels a bit more “awake,” especially when the petrol engine kicks in on the PHEV. It’s not a huge power gain, but definitely smoother and more responsive compared to the stock paper filter.
For daily driving, the biggest benefit for me is the reusability. Instead of replacing filters every service, I can just clean and re-oil it. Over time, that saves money and reduces waste, which is a nice bonus.
Fuel efficiency? Slight improvement, but don’t expect miracles. I’d say it helps more with engine breathing and consistency rather than dramatic MPG gains.
Installation was super easy—direct drop-in, no modifications needed. Took me less than 10 minutes.
Overall, I think it’s a solid upgrade if you:

✔ Prefer a reusable, long-term filter
✔ Like simple DIY mods with real benefits
Would I recommend it? Yes—especially if you plan to keep your Outlander long-term.
