My good friend T.J. had a barbecue beside an animal rights protest in support of trucker's/farmer's rights, and I went down to film the carnage.

Trucker/Farmer statement before the BBQ began:

Thank you all for coming out today.I want to remind you that we are here today as a force for good. We are here as a positive voice for safety and a visible show of support for livestock transporters who play a vital role in Canada's food supply.

We are here to deliver an important message: We need police to uphold the law and maintain safety for all. We need truckers to know that they have support of Canadians.

Like all Canadians, we respect the right to safe, peaceful protest. We can respect alternative food choices even if we don't agree with them. We may encounter people here today who are extreme in their views. Extremists are determined to show that agriculture and trucking are angry, violent and uncaring. Some may try to provoke you into an angry reaction, something that can be edited and shared online in an attempt to draw sympathy and funds to their cause by showing this industry in the worst possible light.

Be respectful today in your words, signs and actions. Focus on positive messages and the need for better protections for transporters, farmers and processors from those who put their own personal agenda above Canadian and Ontario law.

I would ask you to take stock of your own strengths and weaknesses. If you find your emotions are running high, if you're seeing red, please let someone else take the lead. Take a break, take a walk, take time to collect yourself and remember why we're here.

We are here to show support for livestock truckers.

We are here because truckers deserve a safe workplace.

We're here because in the interest of safety, illegal protests must stop now.

We are here because people and Canada's food supply are at risk, and safety can't wait.

Whether you are a farmer, a transporter or someone who supports them, the majority of Canadians stand with you today. Show them that you are here as a force for positive change.
