Did you know that you really don’t need to invest a lot in printmaking tools to create great prints? Printmaking tools are all around us, and they’re often very inexpensive. Like cotton swabs! They’re great for removing paint from the plate and creating patterns.
The open areas you create will show the pick-up colors in the final print. Then you can embellish your print with paint markers. I used white because I like the contrast, but you can use any color you like.
✨ Note: At some point, there will be so much wet paint on the cotton swab that it won’t take up any more paint from the plate. Then you can use the other side or a new cotton swab. But don’t worry—you don’t have to use a bunch of them! Once the paint is dry, you can use them again.
