It's no secret that Anime has become a global phenomenon with hundreds of shows being produced every year thanks to a multitude of factors including the rise of simultaneous streaming, foreign interest and a continuous demand for new shows. This sounds like the perfect scenerio for success however the reality is the value of this success doesn't land with the studios that produce anime but rather the financiers of anime. This video takes a look at the success of anime and the subsequent overproduction that has led anime studios and employees into overwork and low pay along with a variety of other factors that contribute to the current climate in the anime industry.

Makoto Nakazono: Though they say they have a large budget, it’s not “let’s just give it to the animators,” they’ve got no choice but to spend the budget on editing and the audio. After all, those two factors take up a lot of the costs for animation productions overseas.
Keisuke Kojima: Since streaming titles have many dubbed audio tracks, they have more costs in editing and audio than TV anime does in Japan.
