Ally turns 4 today! Her distance work and confidence have improved a lot over the last year, and her agility skills are coming along well! She also earned her Champion trick title this year, which is something we've been slowly working on for a while now.
We tend to clash a lot, and this year was no different. I never imagined I would find a dog that's harder to train and motivate than my fish and guinea pigs. 😂🙃 However, we find common joy in agility, so we've been moving in that direction a lot more and we're becoming a better team.
We even joined some classes for the first time in a few years! Her reactivity makes a lot of things challenging, but we're always getting better. My main struggle is speed and changing my priorities. I've always wanted to do all the things with my dog, but I've learned to put her needs first and go at her pace instead of mine.
Ally may not ever be the dog I had envisioned at the start of our journey, but she sure has plenty of life lessons to teach.
