AI FOMO Is Real: Why Leaders Should Be Quick, But Not Hurry

Stanford Online Guide 7 days ago

Description

How should leaders make AI decisions when boards and investors want results now? Andrew Grotto, co-director of Stanford’s AI, Power, and the New Rules of Global Strategy program, says AI FOMO is real, and the pressure on senior executives can lead to hasty decisions with geopolitical and regulatory blind spots.

His advice borrows from the late UCLA basketball coach John Wooden: organizations need to be quick about adopting AI, but they shouldn’t hurry.

Before Stanford, Grotto served as senior director for cyber policy on the National Security Council at the White House. He leads the program with Francis Fukuyama, senior fellow at Stanford’s Freeman Spogli Institute. Over three and a half days on Stanford’s campus, it helps executives, board directors, and policymakers understand how geopolitical forces are shaping AI decisions.
