Russia on Sunday claimed another battlefield advance in its war against Ukraine. According to Russia's Ministry of Defence, the Vostok Group of Forces captured the settlement of Volnoye in Ukraine's Dnipro region after advancing through Ukrainian defensive positions. Moscow said reconnaissance units identified Ukrainian firing positions, drone launch sites, and mortar emplacements before artillery and strike drones targeted the area, allowing Russian troops to establish what it described as a new foothold. Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities reported fresh Russian attacks on the cities of Sumy and Kherson. Officials said at least two people were killed and several others injured, while more than 20 residential buildings were damaged, with some homes completely destroyed. Emergency crews responded to the strikes as rescue operations continued.
