Description
Andrew Shaw came to Adobe Research interested in human-centered technology. His summer internship gave him the opportunity to explore a fundamental question: Who gets considered when we design new AI experiences?
A Computer Science PhD student and a GEM Fellow, Andrew researched the needs and priorities of people who don’t currently use visual AI tools. Working with Adobe’s Corporate Social Responsibility team and partner organizations, he spoke with people whose experiences may not always be represented among existing technology users.
He also discovered that mentorship didn’t have to come from just one person. Throughout the summer, Andrew sought expertise from researchers across Adobe on everything from participatory research to experimental design.
His advice for future interns? “If you don't ask, you won't know.”
