Welcome to our 2026 History Holds the Key to the Future Online Academic Study, “The Consent of the Governed: Celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.”
During this study, we will publish 3 essays per week on Monday, Thursday and Friday.
As we celebrate the historic milestone of 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, this year we are focusing on the Declaration’s foundational principle of “consent of the governed,” and its impact on important moments and movements in American History.
We are excited to feature insight from some of our country’s most esteemed academics.
Today’s essay is written by Adam Carrington and narrated by our founder, Actress Janine Turner.
